One Day Course
This course aims to provide those responsible for the care of people with dementia with both a sound medical and social understanding of what it means to have dementia.
The day involves moving from a medical focus to a social focus, drawing upon up to date research in order to recognise that good dementia care requires us to value the subjective experiences of the person with dementia, the family carer and the care professional.
On completion of this workshop, participants will have a raised awareness of:
The effect of diseases that may cause dementia
The emotional needs of people with dementia
The potential of people with dementia
The impact of a care worker’s interaction skills on the person with dementia
The Law in relation to safeguarding the rights and well-being of people with dementia
