hands on walking stickSafeguarding vulnerable adults from abuse and harm is everyone’s business and is an important part of everyday healthcare practice and an integral part of patient care. This training course (formerly SOVA/ POVA) is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable adults including the elderly and about the nature and extent of abuse and how to report it.

By the end of the course participants will have:
  • Understood the term ‘Safeguarding Adults’
  • Examined values and attitudes with regard to working with people with Dementia.
  • An understanding of the Dignity Challenge and its implications for practice
  • Raised their awareness of the law regarding Safeguarding Adults 
  • Developed knowledge and skills to be able to recognise and report signs and symptoms of abuse.
